Continue doing great work without taxing the delicate joints of the hand and cultivate career longevity by learning to give a full body massage using the forearms as the primary tool. These techniques can be used for both deep tissue work and light circulatory massage in prone, supine, and side-lying positions. This workshop will cover the body mechanics of working with the forearms, techniques for giving a head-to-toe massage with the forearms, and developing resilience of practice through sustainable massage.

Why Work with Your Forearms

• Achieve greater pressure with less effort through leverage
• Decrease stress on the delicate joints of the wrist and fingers
• Access the deeper tissues of the body with greater ease

• Minimize the risk of injury to hands and wrists
• Increase the contact area you can make with your clients
• Sustain your body and practice through efficient body mechanics

How to Prepare

Truly, we’ll cover a LOT of material in these 16 hours. We’ll cover the full body in supine, prone, and side-lying positions and nearly all of our time together will focus on practical technique. It’s for this reason that I recommend reading through the manual in advance of this class. This will familiarize you with some of the techniques and concepts beforehand in addition to helping you practice them on your own between the two class sessions.

Dress in clothing that allows for ease of movement and be prepared to give and receive work. Masks are required during coursework at The Swedish Institute and required materials are listed below.

What Students Say

“I am so thankful for this class. I have lots of big clients in need of deep work. I was thinking of looking for another field of work because I cannot massage anymore with just my hands. But this new modality allows me to work deep without effort or injury to myself. I was practicing during this week on my clients and they are more happy and I am less tired!”
